Unlike ordinary commercial candles made from petroleum-based paraffin or heavily processed soy wax, Lumen Christi candles are crafted from pure white beeswax. They burn cleaner without emitting dark soot or toxic chemical fumes, offer a significantly longer burn time, and emit a subtle, natural honey aroma directly from the hive.
Yes. Our candles strictly adhere to the traditional 1904 Decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites, which prescribes that candles used for sacred liturgical functions contain at least 65% to 75% pure beeswax. We maintain a full 75% pure beeswax composition to ensure maximum dignity, purity, and reverence for holy altars.
In Catholic tradition, pure beeswax carries deep sacred symbolism: The Bees represent the Blessed Virgin Mary, as virgin bees produce the wax without defiling the hive. The Pure Wax symbolizes the pure human flesh of Our Lord Jesus Christ born of the Virgin Mary. The Flame represents His Divine Nature illuminating the darkness of the world.
Lumen Christi exists to serve the Church and our local Catholic community. 100% of the proceeds from our candle sales directly support Our Lady of Consolation Church, an SSPX mission chapel in Jaro, Iloilo. Every candle you light in prayer helps fund our chapel’s upkeep, liturgical expenses, and local apostolate work.
All Lumen Christi candles are handcrafted with care and prayer right here in Jaro, Iloilo, Philippines.
Each white beeswax candle is approximately 10–11 inches long and guaranteed to contain a 75% pure beeswax composition.
We offer individual candles as well as specialized devotion bundles: Single Candle (₱50), Altar Bundle of 4 Candles (₱190, save ₱10), and Novena Bundle of 9 Candles (₱400, save ₱50).
They can be—at your option, free of charge. When placing your order, you may choose whether you would like your candles blessed by a priest in the Old Rite before shipment or delivered unblessed. Offering this free choice strictly complies with Canon Law and does not constitute simony (the purchasing of sacred things). You are paying solely for the material candle itself; the price remains identical whether you choose to have them blessed or unblessed. If you prefer to receive them unblessed so your local parish priest can bless them in person, you are welcome to select that option.
